WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW!! (page 2)
Mike & Martha Tousley

Retired in 2004.  Living in Traverse City from May to September.  Arizona in the winter, just kicking back and loving it.

Retired in 1995.  Been traveling from Florida to Marquette, Michigan. every since.
Jim & Jan (Moutsatson) Parish

Attended MSU and stayed in the Lansing area ever since. Married, 2 children- Kristi and John

Was a stay-at-home mother for many years but in 1978, started traveling and speaking for Women in Associated Builders and Contractors.
Started the first woman-owned limousine service in the Lansing area in 1986.....I did not drive, however. After the first year, I also became a 50% partner in a catering/deli business.

Sold both businesses after a couple of years. Became owner of a development company in which I own one building. I have also entered into an LLC as sole member in the development field and own 3 buildings in that company. I do the management in both businesses. No time to retire!  I so enjoy living in a university town - big MSU basketball fan. My favorite pass time is to assist in volunteering at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts on campus through the volunteer group, Inner Circle. We concentrate on education. Wharton Center has such a strong children's performance schedule each year and educational opportunities for outreach into the community.   Traverse City also benefits from Wharton Center's goals of providing programs in all areas of entertainment.  Jim and I have had a condo in Saugatuck, MI which provides us with boating opportunities, dining, and absolutely wonderful galleries. We have been there (weekends) for the past 20 years or so.

John & Sandy (Ebbage) Neumann

I am living in Corte Madera, California with my husband John. It is located about 20 minutes north of San Francisco, California near Mt. Tamalpais. I have been here for forty years and am very connected to this place. I have been a teacher, principal and education program officer for a foundation. I currently work as an education consultant to foundation boards and science organizations partnering with schools to use the environment as a context for learning. I am a hiker, wannabe birder, secret poet and sometimes activist. My husband has a penchant for restorods, the natural world and house and landscape projects.

Gary & Susan (Mead) Beck

Like everyone, our lives are equivalent to most folks celebrating their 50th High School Graduation. Our Grandchildren are mostly grown up now, the youngest turning 13 here soon. We are living in the homestead house on the Peninsula now having sold our house next door when we were able to find a buyer. The bodies are slipping - allergies, cataracts, fat, puffing a lot. Gary, the strong one, has survived two near death health events
and is very fit now. I just keep motoring along. We thank our blessings every day that we are able to be in our own home here and to spend the winter in Florida (even if it is in the Everglades Swamp). Actually, one can't spend any money in the swamp. I keep seeing people at Sam's or the doctor's office that look so familiar but I haven't a clue who they could be. It's a good thing we have some classmates that know everyone and we can ask them. Thank you to all of you who worked so hard on preparing the reunion. It's a big job and well done.
Donald & Janet (Rogers) Lawrence

Hello Class of '59,

I have retired from teaching for the 2nd time. Now I work 9 hours a week as our church secretary. We are fortunate in having our three children and three grandchildren all living close, so we are able to spend quite a bit of time with them. My husband is a wanna-be farmer. Right now we have a flock of sheep grazing in our field. I am anxious to see everyone at the reunion and catch up on the last 50 years.
May God bless us, everyone.
Carolyn (Bugai) Lautner

I am married to Eugene Lautner for 49 years.  We have 2 daughters, Sherry and Laurie, and two son's, Jim and Danny.

Cynthia (Neihardt) Hart

Thomas & Barbara Lyon

This is the brief summary you requested, along with our reservation for the '59 Reunion. After graduation I went to GMI, graduated in '64 and retired from GM in 1997.

In 1966 I married Barbara, a teacher who retired in 1996. During our working years we lived in Saginaw. My job was in construction and involved travel to Alabama., Mexico and 3 years with Barbara in Spain.

We now live in Elk Rapids in a home we built from 1991-1996. We try to remain active with biking and kayaking here and in Florida, as well as downhill skiing in winter.

Life is good and we're doing our best to enjoy it..
Art & Judy McManus

A brief update on my last 50 years since I graduated from school.

I have been married almost 47 years to my wife Judy. We have three children and eight grand children. Our oldest daughter lives in Kingsley, our son lives close to us and works for Consumers Energy, our youngest daughter works at Munson Medical Center as a Physical Therapist.

I retired from Consumers Energy with 30 years of service. I am still farming cherries. We have a winter home in Fort Myers Florida.
John & Laura Eaton

The 50 years have passed much to quickly but, with my wonderful wife Laura, we have combined our families for more than 25 years.  The 7 children have added 7 grandchildren.  Was able to parlay some baseball skills into a free education and 3 yrs of minor league play.  Injuries required me to get a real job.  Spent time marketing with a major computer firm before forming a company to develope software, hardware and op systems.  (I owe everything to M J McCool's tutoring)  Since selling the firm I have poked around in whatever seemed interesting.  We have lived in Cape Coral, Fl. since 2001.

Our activities involve the family, boating, Disney and just enjoying whatever we do together.  My hobbies include spending time under the water and on the baseball field.  In 1995 I began playing baseball in Roy Hobbs organization.  Have been able to participate in local leagues and national tournaments.

We will try to make the reunion.  The web site is fantastic, thanks Garry!  Would love to rub elbows with all who attend.
Jeff & MaryThomas Carpenter

I enlisted in the Navy directly out of High School and spent 21 years in the service retiring as a Lieutenant(LDO) in 1980 in Charleston, SC.  Spent time in Germany, Alaska, Hawaii and aboard ship as well as on both coasts.  After I retired from the Navy I went back to college.  After graduation I then joined the CIA and spent the next 15 years mainly in Africa and Central America with short trips to other garden spots.
My spouse is MaryThomas (a southern double name) and  have an aggregate of 6 children, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.  My wife retired as a retail store manager and I retired from the CIA in 1997. We initially retired to Columbia SC where we already had a home and I worked part time for IBM and also did consulting.  We moved here to Florida in 1999.  I have a small computer business and we are in partnership with one of our sons in another business both of which interfere somewhat with my golf.

My brother Jack and I plan on being in Michigan during August so I do plan on attending the reunion and am looking forward to renewing old friendships.
Bert & Aletta (Hollister) Haskins

Thanks for all your work on the web page.  You have been asking for pictures.  I finally came up with a picture.   We are with our two youngest grand daughters.  Isabela and Daniela Haskins.

After graduation I moved to Grand Rapids to attend Davenport College.

While in the Civic Players production of "Kismet" I met Bert and we were married August 1962. Our three children were born there.  In 1973 we moved to Grand Haven where we have been ever since.

Bert was employed in the electronic and computer fields before retiring.  I worked in banking for 20 years before merger mania retired me in 1998.  After being church treasure for 14 years I retired in 2004.

Since then I have kept busy sewing, quilting and being "Nanny on a Jet".  With the kids and six grand children spread between California, Texas, and Georgia it's a good way to get to travel.   I just wish they were closer!

Dear Class of 59

I moved from California to Tennessee in November of 2007.  I'm really enjoying living here near Knoxville in the shadows of the Smokies.  Its beautiful country and lots of new stuff to explore.  I love change and new experiences.  The people here are friendly and loving and the climate tolerable.  We had snow for 2 days last winter but it does get cold enough to wear a fox fur once in a while.  I continue working as an artist and enjoy every minute.  I'm looking forward to our reunion.
Monty & Joyce Oliver

Retired from banking after 43 years.  My wife, Joyce and I have been enjoying retirement.
Gary & Judy (McKinley) Braun

Dear fellow class mates of '59:

I have been looking forward to going to our 50th reunion for the past year and have all our reservations made and airline tickets, which we must now cancel. Opportunities are causing us to make a move. We have been residing in CA for 8 years but in August we will be relocating to Kentucky. Our son and family and our daughter will be going also. Ken and I have 2 daughters, 1 son, 3 granddaughters and one grandson.  They are such a delight and we love being near them.

My home is in a Clio condominium complex where I serve on the board of directors. In recent years I have been active in the Flint branch of AAUW where I am currently a copresident.

Mary and I bought a condo at the West Bay Marina, 12685 S. Marina Village Drive, 49684, last fall and plan to
occupy it during the summers.  We are planning to be at the condo for the first extended time with Grandchild Elizabeth and daughter Ann and son-in-law Brett Hackleman on the fourth of July.  We will enjoy their company for about a week and then really relax for a few weeks before heading to Maine for my youngest daughter's marriage after the Reunion.  Look forward to seeing everyone in TC.
